It’s not the bold or the beautiful who make the biggest difference. It isn’t always the obvious, the applauded, or the recognized who change the world. Heroes are often not the ones seen on the evening news. Some heroes are never seen at all. Those who change the world, those who make the biggest difference for others, those who want no applause do so in prayer.The grandmother on her knees praying for her family, the college student praying for the future, and the parent praying for wisdom to raise a better generation are true heroes. They are unseen, unknown, and unheralded by the world, but they’re continually seen by the Father. They change the world one prayer at a time.Anna was such a woman. In Luke chapter 2, we see that Anna was an elderly widow who for eighty-four years had spent every day in the temple, fasting and praying. She always made herself available to the Lord, never leaving the temple. She was articulate, spiritually savvy, and unselfish. She announced the importance of the Christ Child to the world, yet she was barely mentioned. Anna prayed prayers that shaped history. Shouldn’t we follow in her footsteps?
