Day 101: It’s the Little Things

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward. –Matthew 10:42 NIV

We should never underestimate how much something small, done in kindness, can mean something so big to someone else. As a kid, my uncle Jerry used to always bring me a Hershey Bar when he came to visit. I’ve never liked chocolate, so I always gave it to my mom after he left. The fact that he cared about me though made me feel so special. In the sixth grade, my teacher encouraged me to write. My father-in-law never called me by my name when he was alive, instead he always called me doll or babe. I always knew he loved me. My daughter hugging me in front of her friends, not worrying about what they might think of her, always made my day. An act of kindness, giving encouragement, and letting people know that they matter are gifts that never wear out or go out of style. It’s easy to do, costs us nothing, and everyone can do it. Who has left their imprint on your heart? Who has given you a gift of love that you’ve never forgotten? Life is not about the big moments, but rather about the small moments that make life big. Live large.
