Well, Hot Dog!

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. –Galatians 6:9 NKJV

Most people enjoy eating a good hot dog (or in my case, a vegan dog). After decorating it with all your favorite toppings, you are ready to dig in. But then you take that first bite, and all that hard work putting together the perfect hot dog falls apart. One end slides out the back, mustard drips everywhere, and some of the toppings dump onto your plate. What a hassle! But you scrape up the garnish, push the hot dog back into the center of the bun, and then open your mouth four times wider than it was made for just to eat it. And then the cycle repeats itself as you find ways to keep it from falling apart. Why do we go through this messy process? Because it’s delicious, that’s why. You’re in ministry, writing a book, or maybe going back to school—you’re trying to achieve a goal. In the process, you may hit a road block. It’s not going quite as planned; but if you keep persevering and rearranging “the toppings,” the fruits (or relish) of your labor will develop, and the result will most certainly be divine.

prayer focuses

When life seems messy, ask God to help you rearrange things so you can continue on your mission.

Ask God to rejuvenate you when you are feeling too weary to persevere. Let Him give you strength.
