But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…. –Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
Sometimes it’s hard to be joyful and excited about the mundane when your thoughts are constantly fixed on everything bigger and better. But there is JOY to be found in the mundane because true, God-given joy doesn’t need miraculous moments to be experienced. Joy is the byproduct of the Holy Spirit’s influence in our lives and is not situational. Joy, like all fruits of the Spirit, can be experienced everywhere and anytime. Joy is the wink the clerk at the grocery story gives your child who is being polite. It’s the feeling of relaxing under the bedcovers after a day well spent loving others. But more than anything, joy is the knowledge that no matter what happens in this life, your inheritance is secure in Christ. Where will you find joy today? In the one true Source or in the world? While we may be able to find temporary happiness in the world, long-lasting, enduring joy is only found through our King Jesus. Whether your life is mundane or adventurous, God can fill your life with joy. Seek God, and you will find joy.
Reflect on how you can find joy in the simple things and through any situation.
Ask God to give you a day full of laughter and joy no matter what you face.
