“If Only”

But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. –2 Peter 3:13 NIV

If only life was not filled with hardships and heartache. If only people didn’t have to endure life’s trials every day. If only reading a newspaper or watching the evening news did not bring turmoil. If only you didn’t become discouraged with a heavy load to bear. If only reality was not filled with diseases, disasters, and complaints. If only everyone could get along and there would be no hate. We long for a perfect existence. We want a world without death and illness; but on this earth, it will never exist. However, we have hope. We will overcome. Trust that God can make good come out of evil situations, and He can bring joy during your trials. His strength can get you through the most difficult times. You don’t have to think about “If only,” but instead, trust and believe that one day when you are with Jesus, you will live with all the things you longed for here on earth. Revelation 21:4 (NLT) says, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
