Standing

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. –Ephesians 6:13 NIV

When we stand for something, are we immovable? When we first came to Christ, we were drafted into God’s army. Daily we are engaged in a spiritual battle. Jesus told us before He left this world that we would have His peace that surpasses all understanding, even in the midst of tribulation. In Matthew 10:16, Jesus tells us He is sending us out like sheep among wolves. While we are standing our ground as Christian soldiers, let us remember all the armor He provided for us. Ephesians 6:10-18 tells us about the various pieces of the armor of God. Prayer is one piece of our weaponry, and 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says that we are to pray without ceasing. When facing a spiritual battle, prayer is one of our best weapons to fight it. When  we are armed and totally covered with the armor of God, we can stand on the firm foundation of Christ. Remember, He will strengthen and cover us so we can stand firm against the enemy.

Submit yourselves, then, to God.

Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. –James 4:7 NIV Father, help me put on the full armor of God. I know this will protect me and allow me to fight my spiritual battles!
