Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. –Psalm 127:3 NIV
When Pastor John Maxwell visited Bayside Community Church, he shared his thoughts on the parable of the Good Samaritan. The takeaway: Nothing you have belongs to you. Everything belongs to God, and He’s allowing you to manage what He decides to give you. This holds true for your children as well. They no more belong to you than the sun or the stars do. They belonged to their Creator long before they were ever conceived. God is simply allowing you to parent them for a while before they set out on the journey He has planned for them. When you start to worry about your children and cling to fear for them, reaffirm your trust in the God who loves them more than you possibly can. Surrender your children to the Lord anew each day. Trust Him to send legions of angels to guard them, surround them with true friends, and lead them back to Him no matter how fast they may be running away from Him or how recklessly they’re living. Few things are more powerful than a praying parent, and few things please God more than our trust in and surrender to Him.
Ask God every day for the strength and faith to surrender your precious children into His loving care.
Surrender your will and accept His sovereign will for your children’s lives.
