Call Upon Me

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you...” —Psalm‬ ‭50:15‬ ‭NKJV

If you are ever in a dire emergency, you can call for help by merely pushing 911 on your phone. Even young children can be taught to do this. How comforting it is to know that when we can’t help ourselves or someone else in need, we can call someone with access to all the resources and will send them our way. 911 operators are trained specifically how to talk to people calling for assistance. Most importantly, they are to remain calm and keep the individual on the line until help arrives. They can even coach people how to do CPR. Isn’t this how it should be with us and Jesus in these uncertain times? Jesus is our 911. Anytime. Any place. He is our calm in the chaos. But Jesus isn’t a flesh and blood person, so how can He help us? When you make that 911 call, you can’t see the person on the other end of the line, but you can hear the reassurance that help is on the way. Likewise, you may not hear an audible voice when you call Jesus, but the longer you keep in contact with Him and say His name, His still small voice will speak loudly to keep you calm during chaos. He even coaches you with promises in this verse and many others found in the Bible: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you...” (Psalm‬ ‭50:15‬ ‭NKJV).‬‬
